My admission format into the university and the disappointments | Admissions in Nigeria Universities

Y'all probably know how admissions run, at least for those in Nigeria.

 How it's done

Apply for the CBT based exams controlled by the JAMB administration, take the exam (which is a day thing) and constantly check for updates on what your choice of institution is saying concerning their admissions for new candidate and cutoff marks for your department.

ps; not everyone uses this format to enter the university as they are now various forms in which one can enter the universities, these includes;

*Direct entry (D.E)which comes in various forms such as; Joint University Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB), Pre degree, etc.

*Scholarships which majority are obviously aware of .

D.E  entry is the most common thus far I have seen. Which I will recommend, it takes you through a one year degree program of your course of study after which you write the board exams. If you pass you get into year two (200lvl) in the university you carried out the program or you can do change of institution if you don't end up liking the school. Your chances of getting offered by another institution might be low. But, I will recommend you do the program at your desired Uni.

My Entry

I finally got accepted to my second choice University (Ebonyi State University) through a one year D.E program which will lead me directly into 200 level (year two). Based on my grade which they called "points" I wasn’t given my desired course which was medicine and surgery (Med Surg) instead, I was given Medical Laboratory Science in year one (100 level).

This really brought me to my lowest point as I was not expecting any of this, because with my points I was told that I will be given Med Surg but will still have to be in year one. Yet this didn't happen and I was pissed off but at the same time I found peace ... which was weird.

I remembered asking God that I wanted to be in the Campus, and belong to a particular Set .

(at the time when I was doing the program I was not in the Campus but a different area still within the University).

So I had no Uni encounter then and I was not an undergraduate. So I think the thought of the fact that I was going to be given reg number (matric number) as a fresh student and that I will do my matriculation (which was successful) and also be fully given the file of an official undergraduate by my University was actually what made me grateful during the disappointments.

So after a week of the hustle and bustle, with my mother by my side, towards getting a lodge and just making sure that I was settled and ready for the school year, we said our good byes and she went back home while I remained in school with my lovely roommate (we knew each other before because we went to the same program) we paved our way in paying all our fees and signing all the necessary school buzzes in order to get our reg numbers to become an official undergraduate. We did everything as Freshers and began school as Freshers.

Finally an UNDERGRADUATE!

NOW THE JOURNEY BEGINS!!!

Wish me luck 🤞

Journey to Uni/ college entry in Nigeria

So my journey to the University was quite tiring and exhausting. After boarding the flight we (my mum and I) used land transport to go to the state where the university was located at. ...fast forward to the end ...we booked a hotel after arriving where we will be resting for a week as my mum tries and settles me before she departs. Let me clarify one thing straight, ..but first of all if you are new to this blog then Hi, my name is Maryblessing and I am a student studying in Nigeria. In this blog I will be documenting my journey both in school and outside school. You can check out this particular post where I introduced myself fully.   COLLEGE (UNIVERSITY) ENTRY IN NIGERIA Things are pretty straight to the point when entering College. So this is how it goes, during the last year of your secondary school studies (high school) you are opt to write 2 final exams NECO and WAEC. This depends on your school if you want to write a school exam or some people decide to write theirs after

My experience as an intern in the lab

On the 20th of December 2022 my mom and I went out together for me to apply as an intern. Let's reverse to days before now <<< <<< My brother and I had a discussion on this and we came to a conclusion on a particular lab. Okay that aside, I decided to meet one of my uncles who apparently studied the course that I am currently studying, which is medical laboratory science and he made mention of another lab. Now, the lab he mentioned was the one that I faced head on to get and so I applied but unfortunately I got rejected. Already looking tired and frustrated, it dawned on me the one my brother and I was talking about and just before we were about to conclude I brought it up and my mum in her tiredness said, "after this one, no more". So we went there and applied. Luckily for us we got the privilege to see the manager and we explained further, without no bombarding questions from her. She said "when can I start coming" ? At first I was lik

End of year 2 / A new beginning

Wow, the level that has so been over hyped has finally come to an end. God is really wonderful.  I won't lie, second semester was a semester filled with opportunities and lots more connections than ever before. At the beginning of second semester I was so blind folded to the vast opportunities that came my way. But luckily for me due to the  habit I developed over the years of  'never letting a day go by without reading' I was able to meet up before the quiz week started. One thing I have learnt so far is that never lose track of where you are heading to in life. Many things and people will certainly come your way, some may be good and some may be bad. But having a mind so vivid and surrounding yourself with people that molds you positively be it in their absence or in their presence has a vast impact in your everyday life.  I remembered asking God about the things I desire to do; learn the guitar, further more into graphic design, be in an organization that cherish God mo
